As the impacts of climate change begin to be felt around the world, companies, customers and investors are all recognizing the growing importance of reporting their environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. HKEX now requires listed companies to make ESG disclosures about measurable performance indicators. As of June 2016, however, only 16% of companies listed on the HKEX have disclosed their ESG performances.

In view of this, WWF is working to help companies get up to speed and organized two seminars to share with companies more about “ESG Reporting and Carbon Disclosure” in February. It was honoured that Alderman Dr. Andrew Parmley, Lord Mayor of the City of London, shared his extensive expertise in sustainable finance and London’s Green Finance Initiative in seminar one. His encouragement was inspiring and welcomed by Hong Kong listed companies.

Speakers also shared the latest trend of ESG Reporting and Carbon Disclosure, the experience of preparing their companies’ ESG report, and the information of free resources or fee-based tools and consultancy services available to facilitate companies’ preparation of ESG reporting and carbon disclosure. Both seminars were well-attended by over 400 participants and received overwhelming support.

If you would like to know more information about our programmes, you are welcomed to join a briefing on 28 March 2017. To know more, please click here.
