Feed

Japanese sea cucumber are deposit feeders. Therefore, no feed is needed that can reduce fishing pressure on wild stock.

Ecological effects

Data for assessments of impact of waste discharge from sea cucumber farming is lacking. Without robust escape prevention measures, cultured sea cucumbers might escape from the farm with water exchange. Since this species is native to China, potential impact to the environment is negligible.

Management

China is lacking comprehensive environmental planning strategies. Existing environmental management in China focus on land and water use, important habitat protection and chemical usage. Overall, management is partly effective.
